Stim toys

Do you use any stim toys?
Which do you like and do you use anything that's not specifically a toy to stim?

My go to is a fidget spinner but I do sometimes use one of the popper ones if I'm frustrated. It's not my favourite though.

Growing up, before stim toys were a thing, I used snow/glitter globes, kaleidoscopes and those stress ball things to stim with. A lot of pen clicking too, but that got on people's nerves.

My favourite is a clicky thing.

Is it one of those cubes? I've never tried one but I'd like to.

I have one of the tangle things, it's really good but it's gone squeaky whenever I move it now so ofc I can't use it anymore. I like the popping ones but dp hates the noise 😂

Yes, a squeaky tangle would be annoying Grin I've tried one of those in a shop once. Silly question but can you manipulate it quickly? I need fast fingers with my stims. I even use the popper really quickly.

Yes, once it's in the right position it's so quick! I saw a woman using it on tik tok and I was amazed by her speed 😂

You've convinced me to get one 😁

I kept my bouncy ball from when I was pregnant (I’ve since had two).

It was like a revelation the first time I tried it! If I’m having a bad night I roll it into the kitchen/bedroom/lounge wherever and bounce for half an hour.

The kids love it too 😂

If anyone ever asks I always say it’s for exercise as well. I have far nicer abs than I did before.

We also installed a hammock swing in eldest DC’s room as she’s always loved cocooning herself it’s very similar to this - www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1084592806/kids-swing-kids-cocoon-swing-kids?gbraid=0AAAAADutTMehRr4MSkPKF3MwENrFIttVD&gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_uk_en_gb_-toys_and_games&utm_custom1=k_EAIaIQobChMIyc-X79jC9QIVg-3tCh1SzwYEEAQYASABEgJnLPD_BwE_k&utm_content=go_11073922980_109610251118_462914649514_pla-314535279060_m__1084592806engb_468104482&utm_custom2=11073922980&gbraid=0AAAAADutTMehRr4MSkPKF3MwENrFIttVD&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyc-X79jC9QIVg-3tCh1SzwYEEAQYASABEgJnLPD_BwE

Wow does mummy sometimes have a go when she’s out the room. I convinced DH that paying extra for the adult weight was a brilliant idea and it’s been worth every penny 😂

ISpyCobraKai · 21/01/2022 13:18

This is great once you know how to do it, I'm assuming there's an online guide somewhere.
I actually bought it for adult Dd but she left it here when she moved out.

I have a couple of fidget spinners and I have had those soft squishy jelly type balls before. I now mostly crochet if I need something to do with my hands.

RocketAndAFuckingMelon · 21/01/2022 17:58

I have a fidget ring :)

Rockbird · 21/01/2022 18:10

These are my absolute favourite. I have them hanging off every lanyard and keyring I own!

I love those peas. I've seen them before 😄

amusedbush · 22/01/2022 10:44

My favourite is my infinity cube but it’s quite loudly so I can’t play with it when watching TV with DH, for example. But I teach university classes over Zoom and I fidget with it off-camera so I can focus on what my students are saying to me 😅

I finally bought fidgets because I’ve almost picked the piping loose on the couch Blush

ofwarren · 25/01/2022 13:37

My tangle and fidget cube are coming today. I'm excited!
I've also set up our sensory light projector in the bedroom which has been nice to fall asleep to.
It's the galaxy on the ceiling and it can play music or nature sounds through it.

The tangle is excellent! My DH who has ADHD likes the cube so i gave it to him.
I've become a bit obsessed though and just gone on The Works and bought loads more toys Blush
I've got a set with 5 different Rubix toys in, an array of squeezy balls and toys and some squeezy foam.

I've never found a toy that I like better than clicky hair clips. I would love a pack of those with different textures (rough, bumpy, rubbery etc).

Rockbird · 30/01/2022 17:27

I got a fidget ring during the week and it's fab. It looks like a normal ring but it spins. I'm obsessed with it.

That's one thing I don't have. The ones I've seen look a bit bulky. Yours sounds ideal though!
