Hey, are there any suggestions for meeting other mums/friends? just feel so isolated after a 6 year on and off relationship has come to an end. Finding it really difficult to cope. Jzkalah

Salaam, I'm sorry it's hard at the moment - insha'Allah things will ease and you'll find more goodness ahead of you. Coming out of a 6-year relationship is tough.

Our local mosques have various groups on for toddlers and pre-school children, as well as classes for school-age children. Maybe you could sign up your DC for something and meet people that way? You could also take the opportunity to sign up for a class yourself, both as self-care and as an opportunity to meet other sisters?

Salam, thank you for your time and message. Unfortunately, I've been waking up early ever since the whole situation as I am finding it very stressful. It would be a good idea for me to start practising the deen tbh. Which mosque is this? Thank you

I think a lot of mosques around the country will do these sorts of classes, so you could check online for your local mosques and Islamic centres and see what their websites say?

If you're feeling low and struggling with sleep, depending on how long it's been going on these could be signs of a depression, so you might want to contact your GP too. Low mood after a big life change can be pretty common, so GPs can often help with advice and support (not just medication, but access to counselling, social prescribing, etc).

I find that reading and listening to Qur'an can be a big comfort, as can prayer. If you're looking to connect more with Islam, you could also check if your local mosque has an alima who could advise, or if they have 'New to Islam' type classes - these can be helpful for anyone to develop their knowledge of the core principles and practices. There are online courses too, but make sure you feel confident with the provider and teachers.
