Never mind eh?

I am nuturing my inner Indie Chick with the new Teenage Fannclub album.

omnishambles · 20/06/2010 21:55

No, as you get older you can listen to whatever you want without having to feel uncool about things.

And besides as you get older you respond more to emotional songs I think and so prefer that - indie white boy rock can be a bit underwhelming in this respect I think.

In my defence I have recewntly discovered purchased the best of the Clash, and discovered the wonderful "Grace" album by Jeff Buckley which is now one of my all time avourite albums.I didn't realise Teenage fanclub were still going!Have also recently rediscovered The Smiths after hearing Morrisey on DID on R4

I like Lady Gaga.

I have no idea what has happened to me

omnishambles · 20/06/2010 21:59

Yes Grace is one of my favourites as well - have you tried '59 Sound by Gaslight Anthem - very good if you like americana/springsteen?

MavisEnderby · 20/06/2010 22:00

Oh I have a penchant for the Gaga too.

Catchy pop stuff.

She is the Madonna for the 2010 teen generation

Sssshhh - don't tell anyone Mavis, but me too. I was too old for Take That when they were first around and most definitely an indie girl, but I've really liked their recent stuff.

UnquietDad · 21/07/2010 21:39

It does happen. I was so "indie" at college and in my 20s, but these days I like the kind of stuff they feature on Popjustice.

ILovePonyo · 21/07/2010 21:47

I was a compete indie kid when younger. I wouldn't listen to the radio b'cos I thought I was above most of the music played on it. (Yes, complete indie/rocker snob).

Nowadays I love Lady Gaga. I think she is fantastic! And could probably name nearly all of the songs that they play on radio 1 daily.

I don't care though, think I was much too concerned with what people thought of me when younger!

tethersend · 21/07/2010 21:49

BikeRunSki, what's the Teenage Fanclub album like? My dad went fucking mental when I spraypainted their logo on my bedroom wall, nestled between Senseless Things and My Bloody Valentine.

SweetBeadieRussell · 14/08/2010 16:23

i think indie kids usually change their tastes a little with age - i loved blur/ash/oasis/stone roses etc and still do, but i'm much more of a folky type now. completely independently i've noticed lots of my favourite indie acts going folky too; graham coxon, bernard butler, cerys matthews, bell & sebastian... so maybe theres a natural progression with my transformation...

moondog · 14/08/2010 16:28

Take That do bloody brilliant songs.

Mind you, I like jack Johnson and have even been known to croon along to Michael Bubble. Does this mean I am officially DEAD?

Adair · 14/08/2010 16:32

Oh gosh, I agree. I like a wide variety of stuff - recommend Alan Pownall, v good in a mellow MOR kind of way. Love being old enough now that I am default uncool so it makes no difference what I do. Freedom!

My friend and I sat drinking tea watching Tinie Tempah and Plan B at the Roundhouse the other day. That was very cool in my head. Perhaps no-one else's. Grin
