one way, levellers

BalloonSlayer · 30/05/2010 20:08

Define "protest song" though please?

Personally, I wouldn't call "Imagine" a protest song in a gazillion years, more a self-indulgent hippy dirge. (I like the line in Elvis Costello's "The Other Side of Summer" - "Was it a millionaire/Who said Imagine no Possessions?")

Might add to the list:

Between the Wars - Billy Bragg
The World Turned Upside Down - lots of people have done this
Elvis Costello - Tramp the Dirt Down

One man's hands can't break a prison down
Two man's hands can't break a prison down down
But if two and two and fifty make a million
We'll see that day come round

Don't know where it comes from or where I heard it
