There's me thinking that they were going to sound like either Radiohead with nipple rings or the Smiths with one genital between thenm....
Acctually they're rather fab aren't they?

i like cousins too, it is on one of my running podcasts - i usually never know who the songs are by and then i find out am all ahead of trend. suspect i wouldn't like to be overexposed to them though.

JJ · 12/03/2010 18:52

Yes, I was surprised to really like them, too!

Heathcliffscathy · 12/03/2010 18:54

god SGB, the first album is SUPERB (esp in summer).

i don't think this one is as good.

and if you like this, try MGMT Oracular Spectacular...another blast of sunshine on a CD.

There are some good songs for running playlists on Contra.

I have been seriously overexposed (self-inflicted) but still love the album. What is it now? Album? CD? I buy them on iTunes.

Heathcliffscathy · 12/03/2010 18:56

stupendous lyrics on this one

pagwatch · 12/03/2010 18:59

I think they should use that in their publicity material..

Vampire Weekend.

"Blimey. Not wank at all" says Mumsnet

I suppose I should have given them the benefit of the doubt sooner but generally Bands Music Journalists Wet Themselves Over are wank. I have been hearing that song all over the place andleaping round the room wondering who it is and finally found out... Mumford and SOngs are kind of OK too. Maybe.

When were the music journalists wetting themselves?
Must have been a while back?

I've had their first album for about two years and seen them live three times now. Prefer their first album to Contra.

SolidGoldBrass · 12/03/2010 23:20

Oh, about a year ago, and to be fair it was Sunday paper music journos (who really can't be trusted). As I am now too old and farty to be able to comprehend the proper music press.

sophable - that's a great song and a great album! I will try the other one you mentioned, too.

LyraSilvertongue · 15/03/2010 23:48

XFM have been playing Cousins at least 17 times a day since well before Christmas and I'm still not sick of it.
Not so keen on their new single, Giving Up The Gun.

QueenThistle · 19/04/2010 09:25

Heard a couple of tracks, not bad.

Still a shit band name.

policywonk · 19/04/2010 09:28

I love this album - great for playing on the iPod on a sunny day.

Haven't bought the first one (though I love 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa' and 'Oxford Comma') - maybe I should.

GothAnneGeddes · 30/05/2010 02:09

They were excellent on Jools Holland the other day. The second album is fantastic.
