I'm probably not that much younger than you (you're around 43/44...from memory..?)
My dd is 19 and at teacher training college... that makes me feel truely ancient...lol
I love the 90's for the stone roses,(although they were around in the 80's) the charlatans, the verve...all that kinda thing....I'm a massive fan of Oasis... don't look back in anger is a fantastic song..as is wonderwall...but prefer Ryan Adams singing it
'Maybe...you're gonna be the one who saves me'......love it..!
Where I will defend the 90's to the death musically is because it was the decade they gave us Green day (intelligent punk)....best band ever...and bands like Blink-182..
Punk came out of America in the late, 60's....bands like the velvet underground were doing their stuff way before the sex pistols. Malcolm Mclaren didn't "invent" punk...(can someone called "Malcolm" invent anything edgy...?)...he just exaggerated music that was already coming out of New York...
America always do it first..and usually better..
If you've never read the book "Please kill me" I'd defo reco it...all about the punk scene...
