I would like to buy a piano for the dc's. They are interested in learning the piano. I am not musical. What is best? Happy to buy secondhand. We could squeeze in an upright but do not want to buy an electronic one.

Here's some advice from the Federation of Piano tuners on buying a second hand piano

Here's their checklist of what to look for when buying 2nd hand

And here's their `general overview again on buying a 2nd hand piano.

All worth a look.

HTH

DH has a Yamaha YDP140, it cost him about 600 quid (can't do a pound sign on this keyboard?!) He says the Yamaha YDP160 is better but he couldn't afford it at the time, it's about 900 quid. HTH.

Oh, I've just noticed they're actually called "The Pianoforte Tuners Association".

Not sure where I got the other name from?!
