Hi,
I want to get My DS's a CD each for Xmas. Both love music and dancing (aged 3 and 5). We have a few already - have got Cbeebies one, Charlie and Lola, Traditional types songs and just wanted something a bit different.

We have got Colours are Brighter which we love so sonething along those lines would be good.

Am considering one of They Might Be Giants albums - the ABC or 123 one, anyone have this? And are there any others you would recommend?

Thanks

We've got one of the Putumayo Kids CDs and it's great .

Looking at their website there are quite a few of them.

The website I've linked to is American I think but you can get the CDs here too

Harry Connick Jr - Songs I heard.

It's basically jazz versions of children's songs. My dd has always loved it.

Was going to suggest 'Colours are Brighter' too and the Putumayo ones too. Y'all beat me too it . My DD likes the Zutons and anything by Edith Piaf

dd likes the soundtrack to mullholland drive and a freebie of 60's women like pet clarke singing downtown

Tom Paxton - Goin' to the Zoo

Brilliant songs that my DD sings again and again - proper music and lyrics so I haven;t grown to hate it yet either.

Whaddaya Think of That -- The Laurie Berkner Band.

I do like They Might Be Giants' ABCs one but TBH the DCs seem less impressed.

Try any of the albums by Dan Zanes. He was in the US band the Del Fuegos in the 80s, but has now recorded several albums of very decent kids' music, mixing kids' songs, trad songs and his own songs. Very good fun

Hi there,

I work at a record shop and Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and The Kids has been popular - it's the soundtrack to the new Where The Wild Things Are film... Great for children, but tolerable for adults too! It's here if you want to have a look.

I also like Jean Richie's 'Marching Across The Green Grass' though I'm not sure if it's available on cd...

Hope this helps! x
