Yay me! AND I have tickets to go and see them in November. Am soooo glad now as was slightly anxious that they wouldn't be much cop but they're bloody marvellous

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 26/06/2009 21:52

hassled if you close your eyes though, they don't sound very middle aged at all I don't think.

Terry is still quite fit I think. He has aged like a mature cheese

Oh it is making me nostalgic I can hardly stand it... Glad to see my taste was excellent even at junior school (Terry Hall v first crush). Sad I didn't see them in their heyday (but did make it to the Fun Boy 3)

I'd forgotten what a top album The Specials (were they The Special AKA then?) is.

Hulababy · 26/06/2009 21:54

Saw a bit of The Specials but turned over as DD prefered Lady GaGa and then the Ting Tings. WE got in late afetr her school play but have just this minute sent her upstairs to bed now - way too late.

Hassled · 26/06/2009 21:56

Pavlov - I've got past the initial shock. I'm warming to both Neville and tattooed guitarist in middle aged mode .

fabbo- goes with my gin just nicely
ghost town

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 26/06/2009 21:56

Ghost Town!!!! My BIL used to have a picture disc of this and it had a skeleton playing the piano. Terrified me! I was about 10 I guess?

And even now I can remember that eeriness of the song, it still sends shivers up me now!

LadyG - nostalgia is very powerful sometimes I know what you mean.

Me and DH bobbing along here! I thought the Ting Tings were quite dreary actually and is it my imagination, but wasn't Lady GaGa miming at one point?

Oh, and for a purveyor of dance-y music, she has a rather, ahem, individual dancing style.

Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhh missed this thread last night as was watching and not lap-topping.

Aren't they fucking great?

Sometimes it feels a bit grim to be 46, facing 47. But at other times, when you realise that you were watching The Specials at the time, and Terry Hall was one of your original all time favourites, and you know all the words to all the songs ... then being this old feels somehow better .

Lol at the "young people at the front who want to know the words" ... poor silly young things ...

Hassled - if you can look past Neville's slightly receding hairline, check out his body. Cos he looks HOT baby! Way to go Nev.

gallusbesom · 27/06/2009 21:15

Terry Hall...... I SO would! They were fab last night unlike Lady GaGa who I just don't get
