dd is learning to play the violin and loves listening to Vanessa Mae and anything violiny like Chi mai. We have got a lot of driving over the summer holidays and I'd like to buy her some more cds for the car. (we all choose a couple to put in and I am sick of dds chill out albums!)

As you might be able to tell I'm a musical dunce . Can you recommend some cds - both classical and more modern with predominantly violin music. Thanks

Stéphane Grappelli is fantastic- violin jazz! A lot of classical composers wrote violin concertos, like Mozart and Elgar, for example, or Vivaldi. Nigel Kennedy is another good name to watch out for.

Favorite violin concertos are the Mendelsohn, Tchaikovsky and Brahms.

Also Saint Saens 'Danse Macabre'

(I make no apologies for any spelling mistakes here )
