Need a simple song to teach my kids harmony

Hi,

DS(3) has a beautiful high pitched voice, while his sister(5) has quite a low husky voice. I thought it would be interesting & fun to try to teach them a song with harmony to hear them sing together. The only thing I can think of is a round, but I think that would be too confusing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

I hate to say it, but Kum By Ah (or however you spell it) is excellent for harmonies.

Siyahamba (We are marching in the light of God) has nice harmonies and a simple melody

if you are church-going, you could try some of the hymns - it's the wrong time of year of course but Christmas carols have some great harmonies as well.

Or, if not, then early Beatles songs have good harmonies to play with.

Hi! This book is really lovely and really accessible. I bet you'd find some ideas here. www.musichouseforchildren.co.uk/HTML/birdsong.htm

Off the top of my head, I'd go for you are my sunshine.
