DD has access to DH's enormous music collection, but she wants some stuff of her own that she can play in her bedroom and sulk to when she's feeling misunderstood. A strong pop-y style and loadsa attitooood is what she would like.

so far she has;
girls aloud
sugababes
avril lavigne
kate nash
ting tings

will get some selected Lily Allen

maybe some Christina Aguilera

more ideas please anyone?

more great ideas, thanks.

Blondie has been a favourite with DS and DD for years, I should get a whole album out for DD.

Cyndi Lauper! Fantastic!

Kate Bush is absolutely marvellous, but just a bit too dreamy and thoughtful for DD as yet. (I vividly remember wailing 'Wuthering Heights' in the playground..)

Let her listen to Babooshka or youtube it. She'll love it.

The Long Blondes are v.good IMO - glam indie rock. The Noisettes?

good choice.
(hums "he shouted out "I'm all yours, babooshka, babooshka, babooshka, yeah yeah..")

Do you think Hole would be too shouty and sweary for her? Celebrity Skin is probably their most mainstream, poppy album. Yep, Courtney Love is insane, but she's sung some great songs! Probably best to avoid Pretty On The Inside though, I love it, but I think it's an aquired taste...

I will second (or third) amy macdonald as I think she's fantastic. My kids love her - she has fantastic songs which are great to dance to, full of intriguing lyrics you can puzzle out and not just lame crap about love.

(I have enough trouble explaining the lyrics oof the likes of Honey Honey to my brood.)

Sleater Kinney
Lunachicks
Bic Runga
Bjork
