As its now January and tickets have started to go on sale - is anyone thinking of going to any festivals this year?

I always used to work Glasto but cant be assed to go as a punter - am thinking of Beautiful Days instead with the dcs. Anyone else?

I used to put a shout out for MNetters at BD, but only ever found one. She was ace though - we met up two years' running and her children and ours got on famously. As did we! (though we did have to do a 'what happens at BD, stays at BD - we're not going to hurt each other, right?'' sort of tacit agreement.

Probably doing Cornbury & either Shrewsbury or Towersey.

ooo a festival thread.....

I'm going to Glastonbury and Bestival minus ds so we can get drunk and fall in a ditch and we're taking ds to Shambala.
Really wanted to do Big Green Gathering this year but it clashes with a family occasion ....i will make it one year! have always fancied Beautiful Days too but not made it yet..

Is no one going to the Big Chill? We haven't bought tickets yet but we are, I think.

I've got tickets for me and DD to go to Blissfields. Can't wait to see Laura Marling.

riven- DD has been going to Reading since she was 14, but that first year it was with a friend & her father, just for a day. She was 16 the first time she camped, with her brother who was 18, the next year she was with her friends (her brother was there too, but in a different part of the site, so not really 'with' her.

They both seem to have avoided major problems so far (or maybe they have just avoided telling me about them!) though DD had her sleeping bag stolen on the Sunday once & had to sleep the last night rolled up in someone's coat. However, we only live 8 miles from Reading, so they were both able to come home for a shower & food top-up when they wanted!

Not sure if either of them is going this year -they both seemed a bit 'been there, done that' about it this year & DS was pretty scathing (at the ripe old age of 20)about the childish teenagers throwing bottles.
