Not really relevant, but after playing the kids the right version (they wanted to know why mummy was shrieking in the car), I played them kung foo and Flameboy loves it

They were both then quite taken with Girl From Mars.

Not everyone knows who wrote the original song to start with and it also gives the original artistes credit for their songwriting.

Having heard both songs I think that Annie's version adds something else to it, not that the original isn't good because it is. Her version does not detract from the fact that Ash wrote a good song here.

An artiste bringing out a cover version to a wider audience may also bring about additional interest in the band who originally wrote the song. Which is no bad thing.

Am sure that Ash doesn;t mind in the slightest that this song of theirs has been covered. They probably feel honoured to see someone like Annie Lennox covering it; well rather her singing it than say Leona Lewis.

Yeah, I'm ego-buzzing from it, she's a seriously amazing singer. To me, personally it's a great honour to hear her interpret our song. I feel buzzy, like when I first heard Jack Names The Planets on the radio. Charlotte will probably be really into it too, she's a massive Eurythmics fan. That was all her sisters would listen to when she was a kid.
