Am adding some tracks to iTunes along these lines. So far I have...

Whip It - Devo
Shot By Both Sides - Magazine
That's When I Reach For My Revolver - Mission Of Burma
Rip It Up - Orange Juice

What else shall I get??

Hello, love this thread!

Was going to suggest 'Nag Nag Nag' by Cabaret Voltaire but see I've been beaten to it. We had it as one of the first tracks at our wedding, much to the DJ's amusement!

Can I also suggest John Foxx 'Underpass' (in fact the original Ultravox did a few good tracks too). If there is a Bauhaus track on the list it has to be Bela Lugosi's Dead, an absolute classic. And how about The Chameleons 'In Shreds' or The Normal 'Warm Leatherette'?

My personal post-punk (rather than New Wave) list includes things like the Virgin Prunes and Einsturzende Neubauten but they're not to everyone's taste I admit...

oooo - how aboutjohn foxx - mr no?
i'll second warm leatherette.

and way off topic, but seeing as someone mentioned suicide, i'm not normally a bruce springsteen fan but his cover of suicide's dream baby dream makes me cry.

One of the (many) Sisters of Mercy guitarists was Chairman of our PTA at the same time! Was very strange talking to him at cheese and wine meetings then going to see the Sisters (on my own, I might add, no-one willing to go with me!).
I have been driven round in the backseat of Andrew Eldritch's white Mercedes (he was out of the country though), have met Wayne Hussey once, Mick Brown several times. Have mates who were in Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry, The Dead Vaynes and Hang the Dance (quite big Leeds bands in the 80s....)

Can I also recommend this site - you get to make your own radio station by selecting bands you like; I've been in alternative 80s heaven since I found it!
