DD's Dad has got her a nano and I'm going to put some music on there and wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

Thanks,

HSM

Miley Cyrus

Rhianna

Camp Rock

Jonas Brothers

  • Disclaimer : all of the above are shite for small ears only.
hohoholepew · 24/12/2008 18:10

Oh I lied, Rhianna's not too bad.

My daughter (similar age) likes things she has heard on CBeebies, eg

Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
Madonna - Hung Up

Also

Kylie - anything but especially the Locomotion
Pogues - Fairy tale of New York (mercifully she can't discern most of the lyrics but the inclusion of the word bum is very amusing)
Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing

my 6 yo dd loves:

Rhianna
Ting Tings
Sugababes
Girls Aloud
Beyonce
Scissor Sisters
Kylie

Blimey.

I'd suggest The Hippopotamus Song by Flanders and Swann, Waltz of the Flowers by Tchaikovsky, Day tripper and Paperback Writer by the Beatles, Don't be Cruel and Blue Suede Shoes by Elvis.

I find my kids mostly like whatever music I usually listen to, or the soundtrack to their fave movies, pixar etc.
Go through some random stuff on you tube and let her listen to various things, and show you which songs to click on next. my two have discovered lots of incredibally annoying music this way

KnickKnackNaNollaig · 26/12/2008 19:24

incredibally (possibly an apt description for some of it though )

BoccaDellaNativita · 26/12/2008 19:24

Yes, there's lots of Beatles music which might be suitable. Yellow Submarine is popular in Chateau Bocca.

bigTillyMint · 26/12/2008 19:27

All my old favourites are the most popular with my DD 10

DS 7 likes what his mates like - mainly hip-hop, though he does like reggae and some RnB

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2008 19:30

we have just made several compilations for ds who is coming up 6
so far the popular ones are disco music and slightly alternative stuff like undertones, new order
i think a strong beat and distinctive sound is popular at this age - nothing too subtle

vauxhallmum · 29/12/2008 19:00

your kids are all very sophisticated compared to mine! mine are still into songs written for children - you should look up www.mrmylesmusic.co.uk for non pop-star endorsed songs which are really fun and a bit less about being babylicious

ComeWhineWithMe · 29/12/2008 19:02

Last year my dd loved the haorspray song

"Mama I'm a big girl now"

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 29/12/2008 19:08

My dd is five and she likes;
Steps, 5,6,7,8
The Ting Tings, Thats not my name
Madonna, Material Girl
Kelis, Milkshake
Leona Lewis, Bleeding Love
Guns n Roses, Sweet child o mine
Aqua, Barbie Girl
Scooter, Disco Land
Queen, Bicycle
Pink, Any of her songs though clearly there are lots of her songs that are unsuitable for dd
Aerosmith, Pink
and
Whats she gonna look like with a chimney on her.

Lollipop, & Grace Kelly by Mika
