I don't listen to music and when I do it's always the same old thing: Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Mozart, Glenn Gould and sometimes cheesy disco.

I really want to broaden my horizons and my BIL is going to buy my a CD for Christmas. Any suggestions what he should buy me? He's only got just over a tenner to spend, so no lavish boxed sets please.

I like Radiohead - but then I like soulful sort of depressing music....?
hey but if you can listen to Leonard Cohen you can cope with anything.

My fave is CD called 'OK Computer' by Radiohead and my brother bought for me years ago.

Will be watching this thread to get some ideas as stuck in a rut too and bored of same stuff....mostly very old.

Scissor Sisters are my fave, not a new album for a couple of years though. DD and I were listening to them this afternoon.

I also love Snow Patrol.

Classical stuff? do you like anything modern?

Janacek - Sinfonietta is very nice and 'rich'
Shostakovich - 2 lovely piano concertos that are easy to listen to.plus loads of symphonies
Elgar - cello concerto, violin concerto?

Thanks all.
I'm intrigued by Pink Martini - which of their 3 albums would you recommend, duckyfuzz?

If you like cheesy disco, Alphabeat and Mika would probably be up your street. Very cheery and bright, good mood music!

I like them all, for different reasons - that's no help at all is it though! Start with sympathique as its the first one I guess, but any of them will be good - happy listening!

If you like Leonard Cohen, you might like Rufus Wainwright. "Want One" is a great album.Dinner at Eightis my favourite track.

My musical association went from Leonard Cohen to Madeleine Peyroux. Someone else whose music you might enjoy is Macy Gray.
