.. namely something that's not too full of loud guitars, a bit on the depressing side, or dotted with awkward lyrics.

So far have Jack Johnson, KT Tunstell & Badly Drawn Boy that I don't think will offend. Any more suggestions?

seeing as you're doing the chirpy stuff now, I'd like to offer something more serious. The ending, in particular, is very intense and is bound to provoke some interesting dinner party conversations.
