I always sing them a few songs after their story, or just sing if late and lights out. They have special requests so can't be too bad. Anyone else sing as a regular thing and what songs?

Used to sing away in a manger to ds when I was pregnant and it worked like a charm for the first few weeks, then I tried to find something less seasonal when christmas was over.
Used to sing Morningtown Ride, but had forgotton all about that one, thanks Niecie for reminding me, I will try it with ds now he's old enough to understand the words.
ATM it's Moon River, Raindrops keep falling on my Head, or The Unicorn.

When Ds1 was a baby I used to sing to him 'My Bonnie lies over the ocean ... ' but subsitute Bonnie for his name . Used to have quite a soothing effect on him.

Now my singing has the opposite eefect and both Ds tell me 'Noooooo Mummy ! when I started singing along to Dancing Queen in the car ... dont know why .

It's always been James Taylor and Carol King songs that have come to mind at bedtimes for some reason. That Lonesome Road by JT and anything off CK's Tapestry album.

i always sang mama cass' "dream a little dream " to my children and DS1 has told me that he would like that played at my funeral.

I also used to sing showtunes to DS1 for reasons i have never understood - surry with the fringe on top mostly.
I used to sing 'the drugs don't work' to DS2
and i used to cry a lot
And I used to sing Once upon a dream to DD and dance with her. She still talks about it although she was only such a babe
