You are not alone- i love Depeche mode, have all their records, and Violator is my all time favourite album .

Have only ever had chance to see them once, on thier Exciter tour, but got back stage passes, and our seats were next to the bands familys'!

For many years i dreamed of being Mrs Gahan...

So, if you are still around Pm, what's your fave track?

tribpot · 12/07/2008 18:47

Ah, la mode, my first boyfriend at uni was a devotee. I never got into them so much but they are an 80s fave for sure.

cornsilk · 12/07/2008 18:47

I liked them in my teens.

janeite · 12/07/2008 18:48

I liked them as a teenager but only remember a couple of tracks now. I love "Somebody" and "Personal Jesus".

downbutnotout · 12/07/2008 18:50

I should come clean - the Mode are almost a secret vice of mine, as nearly everyone else I play them to looks at me if I've taken leave of my senses. Philistines. They so remind me of my youth - sigh! I am mainly fixated on their earlier work, although I do extend as far as Violator.

Ah, confession cleanses the soul. Now I just need my own personal Jesus...

daftpunk · 12/07/2008 18:53

liked some of their stuff, but was more of a tears for fears girl

Bbbee · 12/07/2008 18:54

lovelovelovelovelovelove

master and servant.

hmmmmm.....

Kbear · 12/07/2008 19:06

Remember hugging my pillow and crying over some boy playing "See you" on my orange compact record player! I love that song and many others - used to love Depeche Mode at school and write it in on my pencil case!

giddykipper · 12/07/2008 19:09

Enjoy the Silence

One of the best songs ever written.

Words are very unnecessary, they can only do harm.

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/07/2008 19:51

blasphemous rumours and enjoy the silence and leave in silence on ipod

used to loathe the leather clad dave gahn in my youf but now i probably 'would'

Raahh · 12/07/2008 20:26

Wow!

We are not alone!
I love the live version of Somebody on the 101 cd/dvd, is spinechilling...

I have never understood why it is seen as a bit, naff, to love the Mode...

I am out and proud.

As i said, Violator is my fave, mainily because iut came out during my first year at Uni, and it was the soundtrack to that time.

I adore 'Halo' off that.

Raahh · 12/07/2008 20:27

And i really really 'would' (Dh is scowling)!

southeastastra · 12/07/2008 20:28

Raahh · 12/07/2008 20:30

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 12/07/2008 20:31

We were playing DM this morning.

Raahh · 12/07/2008 20:33

Was heavily pregnant and had broken my arm 2 years ago when had tickets to see them, so couldn't go [sob]

southeastastra · 12/07/2008 20:33

i like the one where he's dressed as a king with a deckchair and john the revelator

PurpleOne · 13/07/2008 19:04

I've seen them 5 times now, and they just keep getting better.
Although, Exciter was a bit of a let down IMVHO

We had somebody played at our wedding because when I played it to DW as she read the lyrics and suggested it for our first dance she cried! to be honest it was a bit too slow for that, but no regrets as the lyrics are bang on for me. I got into them after buying 101 in Germany and gradually bought up the back catalogue on CD, plus a few German 12" imports.

Raahh · 14/07/2008 21:02

i said that Somebody is one of my fave DM tracks. And def the 101 version. When i met Dh he bought me the concert dvd- it was so great, to see what i had been listening to for about 17 years! i do think that in this country they have always been underrated, but have always been huge in the States.

Raahh · 14/07/2008 21:03

i would have loved a DM track at the wedding , but Dh wouldn't cos i wouldn't have a Jesus and Mary Chain one!
