Last year I rediscovered Pulp. As a teenager in the mid-late 90sI thought they were okay but put them in with Blur and I don’t really go in much for the overly upbeat Britpop stuff, though I did like a couple of their hits. But decades later I appreciate their clever lyrics and general artistry/ear for a tune a whole lot more.

Another for me is Bjork. I could see the talent back in the day but found her voice a bit grating and melodically all just a bit random. Now two/three decades on and I get why she’s considered by many as one of the greatest popular musicians of all time.

Olivia Rodrigo. I thought she was a bit whiney in Driver's License and that it wasn't my thing but I absolutely love You Look Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love. The lyrics are brilliant and she tells a good story. I'm now starting to appreciate her older stuff, such as Vampire and Brutal.
I bought the CD, which DS finds hilarious and a total generational oxymoron.

ABBA, couldn't stand them when I was a teenager , now I rally appreciate their musicality

I immediately thought of ABBA too.
Very uncool in the 70s and 80s.
Much more appreciated now.

Abba

Far too populist / poppy for me when they were in their heyday but then I heard a R4 programme about their musicality, and listened differently.

David Bowie.

I know....I am an idiot. I started appreciating him when I was around 40, and now realise he was in fact a genius.
