I would’ve started the thread about Babylon. I find this absolutely extraordinary. Probably the standout line for me is “Aunt Virginia with her church dress on” because there’s your movie, at least that’s the anchor point
There are so many films in this song, it’s astonishing.
I mean, I can’t sit here analysing all the lines because I’ll be here for ages
I suppose the “hand me down sweater should’ve been from the mall” applies to me lol
I must admit, the headphones reference threw me for a minute because after years of living in London, you take that a bit literally, but then I got it.
And I actually wondered if her backing singers were involved in the final chorus because it has this wonderful reverential quality and I feel as if I can hear them, but it seems like that’s just a sound effect. But it’s truly amazing.
I also really like Pink Clouding. It’s not a term I’ve ever heard before, but it works beautifully. Those are the two I’m listening to the most.

Patient Zero isn’t really my thing and with the video, I was the same with the video for “All too well” - it’s all a bit kitchen sink and stuff about abusive relationships tends to go straight over my head.
I also didn’t like the use of the term because it’s technically incorrect, but I get where she’s coming from.
Looping back to Babylon, I felt quite emotional about it with the line “because it’s where you’re from”. I didn’t go far but there is such a contrast between London life and everything else I guess…. And I was listening to that song and feeling really quite emotional about it. I’m back where I’m from (kind of, I grew up in a much rougher place but moved to this area in later years as child) and my roots are very much here. I suppose it’s a song that everyone will see through the lens of where they’re at. I’m not sure if it would’ve meant much to me when I was 30 though. I have no way of knowing I guess. I was still too busy climbing the ladder to notice anything else? Although that’s not quite true. Because I did already become a Taylor Swift fan at that time.
