Upbeat songs for a senior audience?

I am singing and playing guitar in a nursing home on Wednesday and looking for some uptempo numbers that they can sing along to - any ideas?

The manager told me that they like Niel Diamond and stuff like that so have put 'sweet caroline' on my list!

Would they know Abba songs?

'My baby just cares for me'. Nina Simone version was played at great uncle's funeral recently - apparently it was his favourite from tea dances.

How about some Buddy Holly?

no deffo not! It is sad - one of my grannies is in a nursing home but thankfully she is one of life's eternal optimists and is always happy. Not like that for most of them though.

The nursing home I am playing at is very nice right enough - they have a 'butler' and DH is building them a putting green as we speak!

I took my cue from the Neil Diamond reference and went from there Wilf

But I do take your point...
