Anyone get a little cross when they hear an intro then it's not the song they were expecting because it's been sampled, etc?

Or am I alone?
Just listening to the radio and I thought 'Oh, here comes Sweet Home Alabama' except it's Kid Rock with All Summer Long. Now, i quite like the new song, but i am a little disappointed.

Oh frequently. One of the wuss bedwetter bands (Starsailor or Coldplay or suchlike) have a song called Chasing Cars which has an introduction just like the wonderful It's Different For Girls by joe jackson. That always annoys me.

Tutter · 06/06/2008 09:59

lol at bedwetter bands. i guess that would include keane too?

Tutter · 06/06/2008 10:00

i like it, btw, if it's been done well

Tutter · 06/06/2008 10:02

fatboy slim does it well, i think

OverMyDeadBody · 06/06/2008 10:03

bedwetter bands, what an appropriate way of describing them!

I like hearing samples of other tracks mixed into new ones, but then I don't listen to the radio much and have a preference for mixed music

nickytwotimes · 06/06/2008 10:03

Ones that just sound a bit similar are annoying too. There's a 'bedwetty' (lol, Tutter) song that sounds a bit like 'Wise Up' by Amiee Mann (sp). I get all excited when i heaar the intro, then thud. Crappy sappy guy song.

Good DJs do it well tutter!

SirJimmySeville · 06/06/2008 15:31

But it's good when it's Stan by Eminem rather than that appallingly sucky Dido song.

Actually it was rather funny in the 90s at clubs (I'm talking mixed fodder Ritzys here) when you'd get a surge for the dancefloor and it turned out to be something for the other crowd.

Cue: opening for "I feel good" J.Brown - bunch of girlies and townies make their surge and it was The House of Pain. Oh how we laughed.

southeastastra · 06/06/2008 15:32

i knew it would be that song nicky, it's rubbish

HereComeTheGirls · 06/06/2008 15:34

Yes.....when I hear the intro to the original "Harlem Shuffle" which is a wonderful song and then its House of Pain "Jump Around"

SirJimmySeville · 06/06/2008 15:38

Balls, you're right HCTG, it wasn't I feel good. Oh well still amuses me, I used to quite like Jumping Around.

MrsJamin · 06/06/2008 17:25

Oh HCTG, I would think the opposite, I don't even know "Harlem Shuffle" - I'm guessing there's an age difference between us?
Same goes for "Under Pressure" by Queen and "Ice Ice Baby" - am I the only one here who'd prefer a bit of Vanilla (yo man let's get out of here- word to your mother...)

HereComeTheGirls · 06/06/2008 17:58

MrsJamin - I am 36, so I am well acquainted with House of Pain, and used to enjoy jumping around to it , but I do like the old soul stuff!

HereComeTheGirls · 06/06/2008 18:13

and also "Under Pressure"..maybe I am an old fogey

evenhope · 06/06/2008 18:23

Yes this gets me all the time, but I am an old fogey We heard an intro on the radio the other day that I thought was Midnight Train to Georgia, but it was something else. As the lyrics started DH said "oh" in quite a disappointed tone.
