5 Star at the Hexagon in Reading ..

Edited

I got dragged there by an ex-girlfriend in the mid 90s to see Emmylou Harris on her Wrecking Ball tour. I'd never listened to any of her stuff before and I was definitely not a country fan but I was absolutely transfixed. What a performance.

YourWinter · 04/10/2025 22:28

The Kids From Fame, and great fun it was too.

I love Ride! Think they still perform.

I was a big Simple Minds fan back in the 80s - at least up until Street Fighting Years - but I never got to see them live. What were they like? I always got the impression that Jim wasn't that great a singer outside a recording studio.

I saw them twice the second time was at Ibrox in about 1985. Both were great. Pretty good live I think.

Pantah630 · 04/10/2025 23:42

Nana Mouskouri followed by Status Quo the next day, I was 16.

They do! I saw them last year doing the 30th anniversary of Going Blank Again tour.

shoofly · 04/10/2025 23:45

Standard Ballet, Maysfield Leisure Centre Belfast mid 80s?

Cursula · 04/10/2025 23:46

The Cure, Oxford, 1986

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 04/10/2025 23:47

Michael Jackson's Dangerous world tour at Wembley.

Pussert · 04/10/2025 23:47

The Proclaimers in 1994

CaffeinatedSeagull · 05/10/2025 13:13

First proper gig was Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (support was The Kills).

I’m presuming radio 1 / local radio station roadshows where several artist mime to a backing track don’t count.

welshcakesandtea · 04/10/2025 14:08

Lost Prophets, unfortunately.

Carter USM at Brixton Academy in about 1991. Unless seeing Rolf Harris at Butlins in the 80s counts.

My first gig outside festivals was Carter too - Leeds 1993. I was nearly 13.

SellFridges · 05/10/2025 14:01

First concert was Take That. First proper gig was The Charlatans. Should have been Cast but it got postponed so happened after The Charlatans.

worrisomeasset · 05/10/2025 14:27

I tell people that my first gig was the White Riot tour in May 1977, which featured the Clash, Buzzcocks, Subway Sect, no the Slits. I have decided that the Cliff Richard gig I attended with my parents a few years before didn’t count.

MrsBeltane · 05/10/2025 14:52

David Essex somewhere in Lewisham. I am old.

Hadsuchahardday · 06/10/2025 18:42
