REM, Sunday July 30th 1995. Supported by Sleeper, the Cranberries & Radiohead. My first stadium gig.
Pretty sure id already seen Suede, Long Pigs, Travis, James etc before this though.
Biggest regret I think is not keeping tickets.

tinyspiny · 04/10/2025 14:15

The Tom Robinson Band , it was either 78 or 79 and I was 12 or 13 , I went with my sister . We have seen him very regularly since , at least once or twice on every tour , sometimes 3/4 times a year and are seeing him on his current tour ( with Adam Phillips) later this month .

Manic Street Preachers supporting Flowered Up at the International, Manchester in 1990.
Flowered Up were awful, Manics amazing but didn’t go down well with those who had gone to see FU! I recall Nicky Wire kicking a few FU fans off the stage when they tried to invade it.

Gary Glitter around 1973 or 74

topcat2014 · 04/10/2025 14:19

Erasure, in Milton Keynes. Even the place sounded exotic at 16

CameForAVacationStayedForTheRevolution · 04/10/2025 14:19

Oasis, Middlesbrough town hall, 1995 I think.

luckylavender · 04/10/2025 14:22

UB40 Manchester Apollo

piperatthegates · 04/10/2025 14:22

The Small Faces (not The Faces) at Hammersmith Odeon (around the late 70's can't remember exactly when) And I wish I had kept tickets now as well.

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/10/2025 14:24

Howard Jones at the Colston Hall, Bristol (now the Bristol Beacon) in the 80's.
It was a bit of a disaster to be honest. Howard had problems with the synthesiser a short while into the gig and it had to be halted whilst he and the roadies sorted it out.

My most recent "gig" was an open air concert starring the Three Tenors in the Royal Crescent, Bath.

(I don't get out much).

Adam and The Ants, early eighties.

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 04/10/2025 14:33

Bros! Birmingham NEC when I was 15.

I was allowed to go on the train with friends by myself and we had a fricking amazing night.

My music tastes have changed (and got better) drastically since then 😂

tinyspiny · 04/10/2025 14:34

My daughter’s first was George Michael when the Wembley Stadium reopened , she was 8 and can’t remember it at all .

good times

Strokethefurrywall · 04/10/2025 14:40

Megadeth at Brixton Academy. I was 14.

feellikeanalien · 04/10/2025 14:42

The Osmonds at the Glasgow Apollo in 1973.

I went to so many excellent gigs there. My musical taste did get more sophisticated.😁 Back in Glasgow recently and it's now a cinema complex.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 04/10/2025 14:44

Gary Glitter in Sheffield 1997.
I was 9.

Thanks, dad 🥴

DappledThings · 04/10/2025 14:44

First one under my own steam as a teenager was Shed Seven about 1995.

TidyDancer · 04/10/2025 14:46
