IsletsOfLangerhans · 04/10/2025 18:08

First gig was with my parents - Martin Stephenson and the Daintees. First gig I bought tickets for was Carter USM and The Frank & Walters. Going to see the latter again in a month or so!

RaininSummer · 04/10/2025 18:10

Would have loved to see REM

Saw them again in 2005 in Ipswich. Day after the 7/7 awfulness. Very emotional.
Taking DD to see Radiohead in November.
Seen Muse twice at V festivals (ahhh, those were the days!)

Madness 1983. Manchester Apollo. Awesome. Both still going!

Lesina · 04/10/2025 21:13

Meatloaf in his fallow years and playing crap leisure centres. I was 13 and such a fan. Saw him in the now demolished avoneil leisure centre in Belfast. It was the best night of my life. Saw him many times since then when his career took off again in the 90s
and he was back playing stadia but nothing beat that night in a sports hall in Belfast. Still makes me smile :)

Decorhate · 04/10/2025 21:15

My friend's brothers's band!

But if you are talking about a well known band, Simple Minds in 1984

Tormundsbeard · 04/10/2025 21:26

Styx Wembley Arena in the 80s

HailtotheBop · 04/10/2025 21:43

Duran Duran at Manchester Apollo. I don't remember the year, but my friend's Dad drove us there and picked us up again afterwards. I've been to many gigs there since and the sound is brilliant, great venue.

HailtotheBop · 04/10/2025 21:44

I meant to add I'm seeing Duran Duran again on Halloween in Manchester! Still a fan after all these years.

lloyd Cole and the Commotions in London (possibly the London Apollo) then Dire Straits Brothers in Arms tour Wembley 1985.

So jealous for Lloyd Cole. I queued up in Action Records but they were sold out.Sad

Giggorata · 04/10/2025 22:04

The Beatles at the WinterGardens, Margate. I was about 6 and totally smitten.

Anon501178 · 04/10/2025 22:06

Red hot chili peppers at Hyde park london, 2004 aged 16.Amazing experience!

GoGoFloFlo · 04/10/2025 22:07

The Lightening Seeds. My Dad bought tickets for me and a friend. I was really young maybe 12/13 and I got dressed up in a fancy skirt & jumper then felt really out of place as the venue was full of cool 18-25 year olds in jeans & trainers (as you would expect!)

Erasure, in Milton Keynes. Even the place sounded exotic at 16

im a huge Erasure fan and this gig was just incredible 🥰🥰🥰🥰

HowardTJMoon · 04/10/2025 22:13

James Brown at the Brixton Academy in 1988(?) The only man who could pull off walking on-stage in a sparkly lime-green suit and his band was incredible. Definitely sparked my love of live music.

Nik Kershaw 1985

Simple Minds, I think it was 1982.

I was a big Simple Minds fan back in the 80s - at least up until Street Fighting Years - but I never got to see them live. What were they like? I always got the impression that Jim wasn't that great a singer outside a recording studio.

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/10/2025 22:20

Lots of small local ones but first biggie, Tina Turner, early 80s at Wembley.

Claysta · 04/10/2025 22:21

5 Star at the Hexagon in Reading ..
