Who were they and did you get good and drunk?

It was a mish mash of various Glasgow bands I think. The gig was seated and very polite. We were all shocked and looking at each other when it started.
We got shots at the interval and wasted afterwards 😂

REM, Sunday July 30th 1995. Supported by Sleeper, the Cranberries & Radiohead. My first stadium gig.
Pretty sure id already seen Suede, Long Pigs, Travis, James etc before this though.
Biggest regret I think is not keeping tickets.

Fantastic.

Bit gutted that I didn't get to see Cranberries, MSP and Suede.

My first was Inspiral Carpets - i think around 1990 - supported by 1000 Yard Stare. In the Ulster Hall.

Me too. At the Hammersmith odeon. Saw him live this summer as well

Me in Nottingham, still a fan, gutted I can’t see his current tour.

I used to work with one of TYS’s wives - the pair of them are music-mad.

Gethsemane Rose - a Christian metal band that were playing in my dad's church when I was a small child.

Can't remember what my first non child gig was but first proper (as in big) one was Faithless.

Would have loved to see REM

Saw them in Croke Park, Dublin. Sunny day. Everyone day drinking outside pubs before the concert. I'll always remember the amazing atmosphere.

And Michael Stipe was on fire. What a nimble Tazmanian divil he is. All over the stage. Never seen energy like it. Was exhausted looking at him.

Frankblackwife · 04/10/2025 15:41

Only this year went to see skunk anasie they were fabulous, bit in love with skin

Brilliant. I love looking up the 90s bands we were into and always seem to find they are still passionate about music and usually still performing in some capacity. I love that.

Ah, sorry. Darn kid, eh. 😁

Quite jealous at you seeing Skin. She's a bit fabulous.

1967 at the former Colston Hall, Bristol (waves to @MrsMoastyToasty ).
Walker Brothers headlining, with Cat Stevens and The Jimi Hendrix Experience as supporting acts.
Went in as a Walker Brothers fan, came out devoted to Jimi Hendrix. Mind blown!

Yiayoula · 04/10/2025 15:53

Forgot to add, many years later I found out DH had been in the audience, though we didn’t meet until 1971.

CosyFanTucci · 04/10/2025 15:56

The Lemonheads in London, 1990. Which came to mind yesterday as I read an interview with Evan Dando, who isn't looking very healthy (but is at least alive).

NorthernDancer · 04/10/2025 16:00

First with a friend, Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam) 1970 at de Montfort Hall, Leicester.

I had previously been somewhere with my parents and seen Englebert Humperdinck supported by the Rockin' Berries, but i try not to dwell on that.

Queen 1977 Stafford
I was one of the crowd who sang you'll never walk alone to them which apparently was the inspiration for "We are the champions!"
