I don’t usually post about music here, but I’ve been completely floored by the artist Ren and had to share. He’s one of those once-in-a-generation talents who doesn’t just write songs — he pours himself into them. You can feel the pain, the fight, the fire in every line. Mental health, social pressure, chronic illness, philosophy, poetry, class, rage — it’s all there, and it’s raw.
If you’ve heard Hi Ren or Genesis, you’ll know what I mean. The honesty, the flow, the way he switches between characters and musical styles — it’s not just clever, it’s brilliant. There’s no one else doing it quite like him.
My teenager introduced me, and I thought it would be just another YouTube rapper. But this is different. It’s not commercial pop polish — it’s DIY, fiercely independent, but emotionally huge. And when you dig into the lyrics? Some of it reads like Shakespeare met street poetry.
Is anyone else here listening? Would love to know what other parents make of him — especially if your teens are into him too. I genuinely think we’re watching something important unfold in real time.
