pretty sure its ok on other days as well

But Friday nights in this house ( couple in very early 60's ) , after a couple of drinks with friends after work, a fish supper, its BBC4 and the classic TOTP's , followed by whoever they are showcasing

Tonight its been Debbie Harry

OMG!!

I fell in love with Debbie Harry ( blondie ) in 1978 aged 14. Denis Denis was the hit, and I thought she was the most beautiful woman who had ever graced the TOTP stage

She played legend stage at Glastonbury in 2023 - aged 78. Maybe not the best she has ever been, but she still pulled in the crowd. Hyde Park in 2017 she was still amazing

Actually watching tonight Im just totally blown away with not only her talent but her staying power

To see who's she's played with, who's been supporting artists , who written and produced for her - a legend

Yep, love classic TOTP on BBC4 on a Friday night. We used to watch it every week when we were young so love reliving that feeling.

Im with you!.. im 66.. yes l wanted to be Debbie Harry... l had blonde hair.. had it cut like her. Wore the red lipstick.. mimicked loads of her clothes.. danced to her music in the " Alternative " clubs in Leeds.. my first Girl crush lol.
( l am straight lol) but gosh she was stunning.

Quite apart from her awesome talent, only someone freakishly beautiful could pull off that hideous yellow and pink candy-striped outfit.

I saw DH live last year, and she was great.

Takes me back, listening to cassette tapes of Blondie and The Pretenders. Strong women, performers with attitude and substance. I liked Squsie Sue and Alison Moyet too

They had a very good documentary about Pauline Black from The Selecter recently. She was very acute on how uncomfortable she and Poly Styrene had felt when this famous photoshoot was going on.

Well the listings for tonight says it's 2 episodes of Top of The Pops from 1999, plus random ones from 1986 and 1997, but there's also snooker, so it'll likely be that instead.

All night.

Lalgarh · 23/01/2026 20:38

1992 and 2 episodes of 1976 tonight

Nana Mouskouri for a whole evening is a bit niche isn't it?

Yes, we changed channels.
