Going to a festival alone

I'm in my early 40s and have a ticket for Lindisfarne festival. I love music and gigs but have very few friends who have the same interests, so no one to go with, but I feel sad at the thought of missing out on something that could be a really cool experience. Is it weird/safe to go alone as a female?

I think it's incredibly character building and affirming to be able to occasionally travel and go to events solo. I've done it several times and I've really enjoyed myself and met some great people. Remember, you're going to an event where many of the other attendees will share the same interests as you. Go and enjoy yourself, YOLO! 🥳

Lots of festivals have meet up groups for those travelling alone. My pal joined a Facebook group for Kendal Calling, met up with people and has made friends with some - they go to other festivals together now 🤩

Are you camping? Does the festival have a Facebook page or group?

A few festivals I’ve been to have a “solo campers” area, and/or someone will post in the Facebook group saying they’re going solo and would anyone like to meet up. It’s always good to meet one or two other women to check up on each other, make sure you’ve all made it back to your tents at the end of the night, etc.

My mum (late 50s) goes to a fair few festivals alone and has a great time!

I think it's a great thing to do. Go for it you legend. 💪

I have been camping alone, do most things alone, love the cinema alone - because I like me alot 🤷😆. I know it's looked at strangely and I think - no....I am not the strange one.

I like the idea of joining an FB group. You can have people to dance with then go off alone too when you like.

Thank you so much, you've all made me feel so much better (and less weird ❤️😂) and I shouldn't care, just enjoy. It's camping for 2 nights. I'll look for FB groups, great idea.
