Performing at a Christmas party this year… don’t want the entire set to be cheesy Christmas songs (will obviously do some!!!)… so my question is what songs feel a bit magical that could be performed after a sit down meal but before the real party starts? (Dj etc)

so far all I have is dream a little dream because that’s always felt a bit magical to me!

That'll Be Christmas by Thea Gilmore is a great one - obviously refers to Christmas, but very much not cheesy!

Frosty the Snowman by the Ronettes.
Little Donkey by Nina and Frederik
Sleigh Ride (pretty cheesy)
Any Christmas stuff by the Mediaeval Baebes - I like The Angel Gabriel and In Dulci Jubilo but not suitable if you want secular...

Depends what you mean by magical, do you mean in the Christmas spirit type stuff or just powerful/popular songs?

sashh · 22/10/2024 02:03

I think ABBA is always a good choice for things like this.

Crazy - Patsy Cline

I agree with whiter shade of pale by Procol Harum. Great song.

Oasis are back in the spotlight at the moment so maybe one of theirs?

East 17 - Stay another day 😁

Led Zepplin - Whole lotta love

Some songs to get the energy up a bit after people have eaten…

Erasure - Stop
The Jam - Town called malice or Going underground
The Killers - Mr. Brightside
Kelly Clarksons Xmas song the one where she sings about ‘you’re all that I need underneath the tree’ I think is a good Xmas tune 😁

Personally I hate any typical ‘wedding DJ playlist’ songs but I appreciate these might be expected at a Christmas party to some extent….
