Adele overkill

Is it me or is the fact Adele has made her first new album in 6 years really headline news? It was like she is a new messiah. The BBC ran it every 15 minutes this morning and even when they went to the weather, the presenters were asking the forecaster what they thought of her latest tracks. Old Adele certainly couldn’t complain at the amount of free publicity she was getting today - especially from a supposedly non commercial broadcaster. Good luck to her and all that, but the drooling was painful!

Oh ffs, I was trying to lighten the mood. I don't understand why anyone would start a thread just to slate someone, I guess that's just me though. I dislike loads of singers. I don't let it bother me enough to sit about bitching about them though.

The vast majority aren't discussing their like/dislike of Adele as a person or even an artist. It's the incessant coverage across most media platforms with a huge build up to something that lots of others are doing without the fuss. It's a new album, not the second coming!

Also, having a vagina doesn't mean that I need to "show female solidarity" with every one else who has the same. It's just another way to tell women they don't know what they're talking about and to shut up

She's a huge star. She wasn't on anything I've seen or heard today. No need to bring vaginas into it Hmm

I never understood the hype over her even with her first songs (not my cup of tea I'm afraid). Anything that is so hyped is always a disappointment.

There's something sweetly old fashioned about a new release being a big event I thought. No surprise it's been hyped, she makes hundreds of millions for the industry according to the press. I don't care what size she is, I'd like her hair and makeup please!

I do like her, and will probably like her new music but she and her advertisers make it sound like she's the first mother to go through a divorce. Her being referred to as a single mother grates on me considering her situation

I can’t stand her ever since the GQ interview she did.

She was basically saying she is anti taxation because….

she didn’t want to pay for buses when she drives a car only, (not sure how that works) and she shouldn’t have to pay for state schools when she would send all her kids private anyway.

Can't stand her and sick of the sight and sound of her lately. She banged on for years about not caring about her size then changes her tune the minute she is stateside. Don't care for her potty mouth either.

Actually, the news of her album, and what I presume was an extract of one of the songs, was covered while I listened to radio 4 over breakfast.

I was a bit eye rolly about the divorce stuff. It's a divorce, she didn't cure cancer. (I do genuinely like her personality though. And she acknowledged that Beyonce should have won that year)

Haven’t listened to the new song but I did like that she has said that her weight loss isn’t achievable for most people as she was not working and had personal trainers. There are too many celebs that make it look like it is, that it was a breath of fresh air to hear how she really did it.

I don’t mind her songs but if you close your eyes and actually listen to her voice, it’s very screechy and hurts my ears.

She has a fucking amazing voice.
She writes beautiful songs.
Really, there are far worse, less talented people than Adele.

Her voice is quite unpleasant and forced sounding. I don't really have a problem with the sound being similar in a lot of songs, rather that than just buying in music and singing other people's songs, which a million artists could do with a good voice. It's the disappearing between albums, hardly a protean career for her is it, all rather mercenary. Fine, but I prefer the artist being in it for the music, perhaps that is why she has started to not come across so well anymore.

The new single is dull and bland, just like the vast majority of her back catalogue.

I really don’t see why her music is so special?

No judgment on the woman herself, if she wants to get divorced, lose weight etc absolutely fine, but it’s hardly front page news (except when it is 🙄).

Whats the story with her new song? It sounds exactly like every song she has ever sung, same lyrics, im sad, you dont pick up phone, hope youre happy, boo hoo, honest to god its painful, can she not do a cheerfulsong for once!
