Does anyone else go to concerts alone?

I have an eclectic taste in music (doesn’t everyone I guess), I’ve seen a few concerts that I want to go to but none of my friends share a liking, so I was going to go alone. Does anyone else do this? Any tips for not feeling like a Billy-no-mates?

I do it often. I'm it missing out because my friends have no taste! I do usually check stage tubes so I don't get there hours before the band are on and have to stand about like a lemon. Once the band are on it makes. I difference as you wouldn't be talking anyway.

I haven’t but if there’s someone I’d like to see, I probably would, especially if units a seated concert. Why don’t you go on the Facebook fan sites - you probably can connect with others there. I’ve seen that happen on festival websites before.

I have seen Nanci Griffith twice alone as nobody I know likes her!!

Yes, often. Can enjoy the show without having to make small talk with someone else.

Absolutely! I've been going to some concerts alone since. I was 14. I've also been going to the cinema and theatres line since this age as well.

I usually go with friends and partner and sometimes my adult kids but if there's no one around I'll be damned if I'm missing out!!
I don't care if it is seating or standing. I've been to Germany, Spain and Helsinki by myself to see a band.

Yes, all the time.

Plenty guys go alone. No reason why women can’t too. The main probs I’ve experienced are around losing my good vantage spot if I go to the loo or the bar as someone will stand there once Ive left it not knowing I’m coming back, and if my jacket is lain on the ledge behind me or whatever I’m scared to leave it in case it gets nicked so coat check (with associated terrible queues) is required or tie it round my waist. Don’t take a handbag.
You have to guard your drink too to avoid it being spiked so no going to the loo when you’re only part way through your drink. Plus it’s boring while waiting for the band to come on. Sometimes I’ve chatted to others and it’s been ok though. Depends on who is around whether you want to chat!

You can dance like a loon if you're on your own!

TigerJoy · 13/10/2019 19:16

Yes, loads! Go and enjoy yourself

ThisMustBeMyDream · 13/10/2019 19:19

Yep, I go on my own quite regularly. I've even been clubbing on my own. I enjoy dancing and music, so it isn't for a socialise... don't need anyone to go with me!

I love this thread! Just got back from a long haul holiday on my own, but even I'd be a bit nervous of going clubbing on my own, so kudos to that pp.

All the time, pretty much all my life. People that no one else is into, and I like to travel to gigs. I went to Las Vegas on my own to see Bob Seger once.
