Braces for trumpet players

My dentist wants to refer my daughter for a brace. She plays trumpet at Grade 8 level (national ensembles) and performs/rehearses for 18 plus hours a week, playing in a high register. I'm concerned metal braces will cause her discomfort and limit her playing. Does anyone have any experience of brass players with braces or any advice / recommendations?

There is a music thread in extra curricular, you'll get more answers there, lots of brass parents.

My son played for 2 years with train tracks top and bottom. He's just had them off. He is only grade 5 level, but found it fine. Her only practises about 15 mins a day though. Just takes a little while to get used to them. I imagine it will hurt a bit to start and she'll have to reduce practise until she gets used to them.
