DS loves music, singing and playing his instruments; does anyone know of any good cds for those with strong choral / instrumental enthusiasm as he’s loved several recorder CDs (they came with his tutorial books) and not sure what else to try .
(I mighh give him the Nutcracker cd for Christmas too which he really took to when heard it .)

Lovely choir music to listen to would also be so helpful to hear about as I don’t have any musical knowledge but he enjoys his songs at choir .
Thanks if anyone has any thoughts Smile

Not sure about CDs, but I'd suggest exploring YouTube...so easy to listen to snippets of all sorts of things to see if he enjoys them. Also, I think actually seeing the performers in videos really enhances the experience.

I love this recorder quartet:

More lovely recorder: (my 7-year-old listens almost exclusively to Super Mario music. We love it here! Love the originals too:

Also what about Alma Deutscher's Cinderella?

Those wonderful ideas were perfect , thank you so much. And he particularly loves the recorder ! I have been trying You tube a lot til now but so often the music isn’t as high quality as this so he doesn’t like it - so I wish I could filter it somehow. He is very sensitive to pitch and always has been whilst I will happily listen to anything much !

We’ve also been enjoying a few musicals (Oliver , Les Miserables and also Walking in the Air)

Ah yes, I don't have a particularly discriminating ear, so I'm ok with YouTube! Spotify is great too since you can explore freely and the sound quality is good. But you need to subscribe...

Charity shops are stuffed with cheap CDs these days since people seem to be getting rid of them...

An obvious one, but what about Mozart? My son likes the Turkish March (v famous - you'll definitely know it!). I love Mozart - very sort of crisp and perfect. The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro are my favourites. Opera...but fun opera.

I think the reason I like recorder groups and vocal groups is because I particularly like it when similar sounds harmonize together (rather than a whole orchestra of different sounds if you see what I mean...). If your DS is similar then he might like other close harmony sounds. I'm thinking of barbershop quartets, 50s music like the Crew Cuts...the Beach Boys. I really like those lush full harmonies. Also early US country music / bluegrass has lovely vocal harmonies - eg the Carter Family. Anyway, now I'm just imposing my own musical taste on you. Enjoy exploring!

The Classical Kids musical storytapes would be great. They're Canadian from the 1990s, I grew up with them! They're available on Amazon as mp3 downloads, each one themed around a different composer. My DSs favourites (same age as yours) are Vivaldi's ring of mystery, Mr Beethoven lives upstairs, Mozart's Magic Fantasy, and Tchaikovsky discovers America.

Try looking up Pentatonix on Spotify / YouTube - a US A Cappella group. DD (albeit a lot older) loves them and her choir has done covers of their stuff
