How much of a step up is Grade 4?

Dd plays the violin- she took Grade 3 in the summer and got a high merit (she's a bit cross with herself as her aural test let her down quite badly- anyway at least she's motivated to do some work on that side of things).

I just wondered is Grade 4 a big step up from Grade 3 or more of a natural progression?
