Seem to be listening to the same old stuff (which I'll always love!),but struggling to find some new stuff,by that I don't mean new to the music scene just new to me,someone I may have overlooked but has been around for years, that sort of thing.

What I like :-
Kings of Leon (adore all their albums especially the early stuff),
Pearl Jam (everything they've done but have done but haven'y listened to their newest album yet)
Foo Fighters (adore Dave Grohl & anything he does)
Audioslave (one of my all time fave bands!)
Guns n Roses (the Slash years only please!)
Live (but i tend to stick to 'Throwing Copper')
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds,
Ray LaMontagne (his voice gives me chills!)
but also like Slipknot,Seasick Steve,Smashing Pumpkins,Stereophonics,System of a Down,RHCP,Rage against the Machine,QOTSA,Placebo.
With all that can anyone recommend something else to listen to??

I love this kind of thread. Sadly, I rarely have anything to add, but I'm hoping to take something away!

Jellykat · 15/02/2014 21:21

Yes, yes, to The Black keys, also Black Rebel Motorcycle club..and Royal Blood - a new 2 piece band from Brighton

I'd also like to recommend an amazing documentary by the Grohlmeister, called 'Sound City', first half is about the amazing recording studio where so many classic rock albums were made.. the second half is Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins 'jamming' an album with the remaining Nervanas', Josh Homme (hubba hubba) Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) Tom Petty etc.. one of the most briiliant things i've watched in a very long time!

ProfondoRosso · 15/02/2014 21:23

If you like Nick Cave, give Tindersticks a go, especially their first album.

DoctorTwo · 16/02/2014 17:29

Try Voivod (start with either Killing Technology, Nothingface or Dimension Hatross as opposed to War/Pain), they are one of Dave Grohl's favourite bands, Faith No More, The Dead Weather, Hefner. I second Jellykat with BRMC, and if you like them you'll probably like Radio4. is a top tune, this is a new version (I think).

maillotjaune · 19/02/2014 19:33

Teenage Fanclub? Look for Everything Flows, God Knows It's True, Star Sign, Alcoholiday on YouTube for a sample of their early stuff. They get more folky with age and The New Mendicants (Norman Blake's new project) are really good too.

WowserBowser · 19/02/2014 19:45

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Hole
Arcade Fire

I loved Throwing Copper when i was younger. Love Smashing Pumpkins too.

MyChemicalMummy · 21/02/2014 15:33

Frank Turner the man is a genius.

Rattitude · 21/02/2014 15:36

The Walkmen - all their albums are good, but I particularly like .

They are great in concert too.

PandaNot · 21/02/2014 15:37

Imagine Dragons
White Lies

marlene4boycie · 21/02/2014 15:44

Bill Callaghan / Smog

midwifeandmum · 21/02/2014 16:01

Abba??? Grin

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 21/02/2014 16:01

I was also going to recommend Frank Turner. Problem is, he has released quite a few albums so it's hard to know where to start. Here's and on Youtube.

Have you considered listening to Kerrang radio if you want a selection of rock-type music? It's on digital, or there's an app.

Rattitude · 21/02/2014 16:13

Radiohead (!)
Archive - is always a massive crowd-pleaser when sung live. Grin

slug · 21/02/2014 16:34

Spriitualized. Their last album 'HUH' is a good place to start
Tindersticks
The National
Grindermen (Nick Cave side project)
Queens of the Stone Age. Some of the earlier stuff
Arcade Fire - start with Funeral
Secret Machines - Ten Silver Drops is the album to try
