Teach yourself guitar book for experience pianist?

Hello, I'm trying to get a recommendation for my sil's Xmas present. She's a grade 8 pianist so is good at theory/reading music, but can't (fluently) read guitar chord scores and hasn't played the guitar before.

Any suggestions for a book that would be suitable?

Thanks loads.

Not much help here, but I play the piano and taught myself to play the guitar when I was young. Are you thinking classical guitar or folk? I was happier with classical since I could read that anyway, but learning a few chords from whatever notation wasn't too difficult after a while either.

I had the "a tune a day" books. Grin

Oh wow I remember those! Thanks loads for your help, I was thinking prob classical to start with because, as you say, it's an easier transition. It's a good sanity check if nothing else Smile
