I usually only listen to music of lesser known artists and I love finding new talent to listen too.
At the moment I'm obsessed with a singer named Scott Matthews, actually I've been obcessed for almost two years. I saw him live last year and he seriously he blewmy mind when he sung. (Think of a more acoustic Jeff Buckley and that's him)
Another singer I saw live was Fink, again amazing! I was heavily pregnant when I saw him and my DD actually enjoys his music too now she's outside my womb.
Both these artists should be far more popular then the crap out there at the moment.

Let me know about any artists you think are amazing as I love my music and its always interesting hearing what others listen too.

The Tiger Lillies
Voltaire
The Wildhearts / Ginger

Hmm, not sure what you'd consider lesser known? I really like both Steve Argüelles & Django Bates

TWinklyLittleStar · 05/02/2013 18:49

Brian Houston. My absolute favourite singer/songwriter, and a fantastic live performer.

Jellykat · 05/02/2013 19:10

I totally agree about Scott Matthews, i've been into him for 4 years and cannot understand why he isn't bigger. Amazing man!

My recent excitement is about a young New Zealander called Gin Wigmore, shes my new girl crush!- here

and the latest video that makes me soo happy is by a guy called Woodchild, he reminds me of Mr Matthews -here

God i love music!!

Jellykat · 05/02/2013 19:11

KatieScarlett2833 · 05/02/2013 19:12

Alabama 3

whatkungfuthat · 06/02/2013 21:09

Magazine, although they aren't really current. I also love Spizz in all his guises, he's a lovely bloke too.

drownangels · 11/02/2013 14:20

Joe Bonamassa Love LOve love him and can't wait to see him again in March.
Scroobius Pip and Dan Le Sac
Band of Horses if I'm feeling melancholy
Fighting wolves for some rock

Not an all time favourite but I too like Alabama 3, I've seen them loads of times over the years.
I have become a fan of Rodriguez since seeing Searching for sugar man and have since seen him at Manchester.

Although Jane's Addiction aren't main stream they are quite well known I do live them and the side projects Perry Farrell has done.

drownangels · 11/02/2013 14:41

drownangels · 27/02/2013 09:08

Nick Cave and the BS's new album 'Push the sky away' is fab!
I'm lliving Jubilee Street.

ComeOnBeANoOne · 25/03/2013 23:00

I would definitely get onto The Crookes (guitar pop, but done well) and Screaming Maldini (quirky, orchestral pop with wierd time signatures).

Also, High Hazels - next big thing in Sheff imo. Only played their first gig in November '12, but, oh my...! If you like Richard Hawley you'll like them!

(Sorry, I do like my music I do!)

DrCoconut · 31/03/2013 16:58

Show of hands here too. Also the fishermen from port Isaac. So awful what happened a few weeks ago.

smellylittleorange · 10/04/2013 17:46

Skinny Lister!

turkeyboots · 10/04/2013 17:51

Afgan Whigs. And anything the lead singer (whos name I've forgotten) had a hand in so Twilight Singers and Gutter Twins too.

Also love Jimmy Eat World, but is fairly mainstream I think.

SignoraStronza · 25/04/2013 22:35

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Quite partial to a bit of Carcass too -and they've got a new album out soon.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 25/04/2013 22:39

Jamie Lidell.

Pozzled · 25/04/2013 22:43

Joe Pug
Great Big Sea (they're pretty well known in Canada but not here)
Megson
Show of Hands

NicholasTeakozy · 26/04/2013 09:43

Another vote for Carcass here. I'm really looking forward to their new album.
Voivod. Their new stuff is good, the new guitarist really seems to have channeled the spirit of Denis D'Amour (Piggy).
Living Colour.

hedgefund · 26/04/2013 09:45

cracker and hoodoo gurus, also the triffids

Jaynebxl · 06/05/2013 07:19

Oo just spotted this. We are quite folky in our family and usually discover new stuff at various folk festivals. Particularly love Jim Moray, Martyn Joseph and my faves the Imagined Village. Another vote for Show of Hands here too. Oh and of course the Port Isaac guys.

AuntieBrenda · 06/05/2013 08:34

Saint saviour. God, I love her. Singer songwriter originally from north east, amazing vocals- really original and creative. There's a track on her new album called reasons and it makes me cry. She's sort of a Kate bush / Regina Spektor hybrid. Google her on YouTube
