I am a volunteer leading a school band/orchestra for KS2 children.

We're looking for new repertoire. We arrange it ourselves - it doesn't have to be available for sale as sheet music.

What music are 7-11 year olds into? We noticed a huge increase in standards once we let them play the tune to "mamma mia" and are looking for other stuff that they are into. Christmas ideas welcome too.

thanks!

Music from film and tv is always a winner for this age. Dr who, toy story etc. You could ask a selection of yr 4,5,6 students what is their current favorite movie!?

I remember playing the theme from the muppet show in our school orchestra once, it went down a storm!

What about some Disney songs - something from the Lion King maybe, or Mary Poppins? Stuff they're likely to have seen. Supercalifragilistic...Wink

Or what about something well-known like Queen? Would they know We are the Champions?
