Sent off PIP claim and heard nothing - is that normal?

My DC has been on DLA but on turning 16 was given a PIP application form. We filled it in and sent it back 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing, no acknowledgment that it has been received. Is this normal? If it is lost and they don't receive it by the deadline will they refuse the application?

I know it generally takes a long time to get a decision but I thought there would be some kind of acknowledgement of receipt?

Why not just phone the enquiry line to check if they’ve recieved it? If they haven’t, then they can add a note explaining what has happened and give an extension or new form. The number is 0800 121 44 33 (select existing claims and then enquires).

Yes. Mine was delayed by a postal strike and I was refused. Call up and ask if they have received it.

I don’t think they send an acknowledgment well we didn‘t get one. They will send reminder letters though if they don’t receive anything. I would ring them up to check they received it. With my daughters they said they hadn’t received it but had received all the evidence even though I sent them in the same envelope! Seems like they missed scanning it in. They did send a reminder letter though though so I rang them and then resent it. Be prepared to wait a long time on the phone (was about 45 mins till someone came on the line). Still waiting for the decision.

Great, thank you I will call to check. Do they just keep paying DLA until they make a decision?

DLA will continue to be paid while a PIP decision is made.

Do call to check they have received the form, but it isn’t unusual to not have heard anything in 2 weeks. In the future, you may want to send it recorded/tracked delivery.
