Has anyone's PIP assessment gone on for this length of time. I was expecting an hour, maybe 1.5hrs but 3.5 hours, I was wounded when I cam off the phone. Do you think this is a good sign I will be awarded?

That’s really bizarre OP. Mine was 12 minutes.

My daughters was around 10 minutes. They asked 3 questions and has I'm her appointee I was the one that took the call and answered the questions.
Someone else I know said their assesement took 2 hours over the phone.

@theressomanytinafeysicouldbe Yes - my initial phone assessment was 3 hours long, & if this weren’t enough I then had to have a face to face as well. This was for my initial PIP assessment & when I had my review (Sent August 2024 & decision March 2025) they made the decision purely on my form & additional evidence.
During my initial phone assessment the lady had to leave twice to inform her manager she was still speaking to me & the person doing my face to face said he couldn’t understand why I was there as I’d provided more than enough. I think it was purely for them to ‘see’ me as my disabilities are hidden. Good luck!

What was the outcome if you don’t mind me asking?

My ed had one which was about 2 1/2 hours which was really difficult for her, and with hindsight, I'd ask for some rest breaks if it happened again, but she was awarded the low amount in both which we feel is wrong.
Her most recent one didn't even have an assessment and she was just awarded the same as previous years, which was nice, but again she should be on the higher amount, if only for the mobility component.

I received a text, Friday just gone, to say they have received the written report and they will write to me when they have made a decision, said I should here from them within 8 weeks, i'm not feeling very hopeful

You can ring & ask for the written report! ☺️ my home assessment was 2 hours long, was awarded. Then got paper assessment light touch award on the second assessment. Have faith op!

I can see how it could be if you have lots of different illnesses/issues. And both physical and mental health that affects your day to day existence.

I've known it to be more like 1.5 hours but that's for people with mainly mental and not much physical ailments.

It's better they covered everything thoroughly than you felt they skipped or ignored some key issues you were facing.

whatisforteamum · 11/02/2026 21:09

What's the outcome OP ?

SleafordSods · 13/03/2026 19:34

@theressomanytinafeysicouldbewhat was the final result?
