Dla for my child

I'm just wondering if anyone had similar situation with putting a claim for Disability living allowance for a child?
I've rang up the DLA on the 13th May and ordered the paper form for my daughter. My 6 weeks deadline to claim it from the 3 months after the diagnosis was the 24th of May. The form was sent Rayal Mail next day tracked on the 21st May
so should off been delivered on time. I've kept the receipt but unfortunately my purs was lost/stolen with the receipt inside. I never thought much about it as only had some loyalty cards and change in the purse. Until we had the award letter and the dates were wrong. I have no way of tracking the letter to check if it was delivered by the 24th. The DLA scanned my daughters form on the 28th of May so 4 days after the deadline. I had to wait over 20 weeks for the decision and when I rang them up they're saying they have a massive backlog so they're extending the time frames for assessing forms for another 5 weeks/ from 15 to 20 weeks. I was expecting to be awarded the DLA for my daughter from the 3 months after the diagnosis however they've awarded her from the date of the form being scanned into the system. I can't get my head around this as they've literally robbed her of at least 6 weeks of payments for the most difficult time in her life. She has a lifetime condition and there's enough evidence about her condition. She was criticality ill when admitted to hospital. This is impacting the whole chain of payments that we should be entitled too. I don't know what to do 😔 how to fight this back for my daughter.

xx thanks everyone xx

That sounds tough OP, I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough time.
I say this gently but with experience of 20 years of fighting for my DC - you have to pick your battles. You only have so much energy and you never know when the next more important battle may land.
If you cannot evidence posting of the form, you’re going to struggle requesting back dated DLA.
Perhaps there’s a poster who has managed to challenge a similar decision in which case I’d be gladly wrong but if I was in your shoes I’d be pleased you’ve got the DLA award for your DD and let the 6 weeks go.
