Do I disclose my ASD diagnosis at work?

I have very recently had my diagnosis and I'm now unsure whether to disclose or not.

I'm a teacher and feel that a lot of the communication mismatch I experience with my SLT is linked to this (although bullying is also an issue)

Has anyone in education disclosed? Did you find it helpful or did it encourage issues?

I am waiting for an assessment but if diagnosed I'm not sure if I would disclose. I feel like everything would be seen in light of this.

I wouldn't no. People are bloody nasty.

I work in Mental Health services in education. Diagnosed with ADHD in 2021.

I haven't told my workplace. Had a really negative reaction from a bloody psychotherapist colleague that put me off!

That's awful that you'd encountered a bad reaction. People can be such arses

Yeah. They can be awful.

What pisses me off is that in schools everyone is all about making sure all the children are ok and everyone is so supportive of children with ASD or ADHD

But - if you're a diagnosed adult... it's so different .

Growing Up with undiagnosed ADHD cost me jobs, friends, relationships, family ties were strained. After diagnosis in middle age even after disclosing my affliction people were sarcastic and unkind. I learned to shut up about it.
