Lost tolerance for touch/burntout/shutdown

What do you do in the above situation

Is it a case of try to be alone till you calm down ?

Do you mean in terms of DC/partner touching you?

By burnout/shutdown, are you talking in terms of emotions, or more general stress/overwhelm that then means you're too stressed to deal with people touching you?

If it gets better when you've removed yourself from the situation and have calmed down, then it sounds like that's the sensible thing to do where possible.

But depending on what you mean (see questions above), I think that recognising the early warning signs of overwhelm (or whatever it is) and managing stress levels so you don't get to that point as often can definitely help too.
