Do you think my dd6 needs an asd assessment?
I have no experience in this area an not really sure on what to do or where to start.
Dd6 Doesn't like loud sounds anything from fireworks to hand dryers in public toilets.
She smells new foods to see if she likes it or not.
She can handle changes but not in school becomes very unsettled going back to school whenever they have a half term and it takes a couple of weeks to settle back in. She only ever mentions 1 friend in school and doesn't like to play with anyone else. She's already speaking of the christmas school show and if parents will watch as she doesnt want them to pre covid she would become very overwhelmed when parents are at the show or any school event with parents and would end up sitting on my knee crying throughout.
Austim has always been at the back off my mind but school have never brought it up an I guess I've been looking for a sign of sorts that makes me think yes this is autism.
School have had to phone me a few times now that she's started a new year she's still not settled in not made any progress since the start of term becoming unkind to some children teacher said her behaviour is impulsive and seems to shock herself with what she has said/done. She can't seem to concentrate for more than a few minutes (same at home) so therfore is disturbing the class.
School are now keeping an eye and we will have a catch up after half term to see if this has improved.
Do I phone gp with my concerns? I do just wait see what school say in few weeks? I really have no clue.
