presume you mean mothering sunday (mid-lent, in march) not mothers' day (american invention, happens in may)

i hate the wretched day - bless dh, he sorts our gifts for the nans, neither of whom live near. real trouble is, i run our junior church. the lady who used to make posies for the femal half f the congregation has moved, so we seem to end up with one manky daffodil per lady, with me trying to 'do something' to make it look nicer - cards made by the sunday school - in itself much more trying than it used to be, as we are currently dominated by pre-schoolers who get very bored very quickly.

so whilst i'd love to be taken out, could i come home, have a glass of wine and a nap and then go out for a late lunch at 3-ish? (course i can't - how would that fit with anyone else's busy schedule of lie-ins, going to the gym and finishing that homework they'd been denying the existence of all weekend, and dh being grumpy cos his mum's upset him on the phone - as usual!)

Done but agree that the 'not having a mother option' could be more sensitively worded. Both mine and my husbands mothers have passed away but neither of us would see it as not having a mother.

done - no option for "bought something by someone other than partner" situations though so I used "other"

Done, I'm another one who didn't like the wording in question 8. I answered other, my mum died 4 years ago, I still have a mum though, she's just not here.

Done (and good point re:Mothering Sunday- trying to get a card that says it is well nigh impossible & my own mum always comments...)

Question 3 I found very poor.
It asked if I reminded DH about mothers day.

I don't remind DH and I don't expect him to remember. I'm not his mother! Our girls are teens and it's up to them if they remember or not, and how.
There was no suitable answer. I ticked no and he sometimes forgets but it didn't really fit. There weren't any no answers except ones that talked about him forgetting or remembering. He remembers his own mother. That's not me. Valentine's day, birthdays, that's different. He's damn well expected to remember those!

Done. Just hope I get something other than flowers this year. As nice as the thought is I'm not a flowers person and I really dislike having them around the house, waiting to throw them away.

Done. I'm the same nerysw re the flowers. Dp got me some for valentine's day and they're still alive! I suspect he has been taking care of them

Agree about the flowers - I hate the amount of money a good bouquet costs (and am much happier with chocs). DH learnt quite quickly that it wasn't worth buying me flowers and he is more than happy to share the chocolates.

oh - i forgot to say, i also have to put in overtime at school to organise a 'mothers day' (i know, i know) sale, as most of the dads cba to take their kids out to get as much as a card, let alone a little present (and for those who disliked Q8, this always includes at least a couple of items suitable for leaving on a grave)

is there a mothering sunday equivalent of 'bah, humbug!' ?
