This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tested out the free Sky Kids app. Testers had to download the app and have a little play with all of its functions and features; the test was open to all UK MNers who had Sky Kids as part of their Sky package and have at least one child aged 2-10.

Here’s is some information on the app and what Sky has to say: The dedicated Sky Kids app: A world of entertainment for them, peace of mind for you. Featuring:
- Over 5000 episodes on demand
- 17 channels
- Parental controls such as bedtime settings, meaning you can stay in control
- Personal profiles with tailored, age-appropriate content
- Masses of fun and educational games and quizzes for all ages (currently only available on tablet, coming soon to mobile)

We found it easy to use and my daughter had lots of choice.

Yes I would. It’s much better than YouTube for young children.

A few more episodes of some programs.

Both myself and my daughter (3) were very satisfied with this app.

Very intuitive.

Parental controls (daughter liked the content)

Yes

• Do you think anything could be improved on the app?

Depends on how often content features are updated. Hopefully regularly.

Overall how satisfied were you with the Sky Kids app? Really satisfied as it meant they could watch things on IPad whilst we were away for half term

• Did both you and your child find the app easy to use and navigate? Yes, it was easy for me. At 4, my daughter needed a little guidance but did get used to it
• What was your favourite feature on the app? The downloadable shows
• Would you recommend the app to your friends and/or family? Yes. We had Disneylife too but I think this offers more viewing choices
• Do you think anything could be improved on the app? Not really :-)

Very satisfied, easy and safe access to the programmes my kids want to watch all included with my regular subscription

• Did both you and your child find the app easy to use and navigate?

I found it easy to use, as did my 8 year old. My 5 year old found it difficult to find her shows sometimes as she could not use th search function effectively with her basic reading skills.

• What was your favourite feature on the app?

Divided into channels for easy access/to find shows by channel. A good way of introducing new age appropriate (due to the channel) shows.

• Would you recommend the app to your friends and/or family?

Yes

• Do you think anything could be improved on the app?

Ability to create a home page (which would be the start page) of favourite programmes for easy access, particularly for the younger kids. Ability lock certain channels if you feel you’re kids are not ready for them

• Overall how satisfied were you with the Sky Kids app?

Very satisfied, both of my children aged 8 and 3 enjoy using it.

• Did both you and your child find the app easy to use and navigate?

Yes no problems with navigating the app even the 3yo finds it easy!

• What was your favourite feature on the app?

Setting profiles with ages for each of my children - important because of their age difference.

• Would you recommend the app to your friends and/or family?

Yes I already have recommended to friends.

• Do you think anything could be improved on the app?

Not really, pretty satisfied as it is!

• Overall how satisfied were you with the Sky Kids app?

I was really surprised how easy the app was to navigate, both as a parent and in watching my children woosh around. I was really satisfied by the choice of programmes as well as the games available. I liked that the app could be customised from a parent perspective as well as letting the children set up their individual profiles.

• Did both you and your child find the app easy to use and navigate?

Yes. I was impressed by how easy it was to download as set up with parent controls and personalised settings for the children. The children didn't need any guidance, it was really intuitive and they found their way around easily, quickly finding their favourite series and games.

• What was your favourite feature on the app?

Two-fold, as a parent I appreciated the ease of the parental controls, I also loved that I could set up three separate profiles to limit any potential conflict.

• Would you recommend the app to your friends and/or family?

Yes, already have! For moments of peace during the school holidays, for making meals on the weekend- it's another thing to create a distraction. With the downloadable feature, it's perfect for road trips and long journeys.

• Do you think anything could be improved on the app?

It would be great if it could be integrated with Sky Cinema- the option to download films would be perfect (back to those long journeys!).

• Overall how satisfied were you with the Sky Kids app?

Thought it was really brilliant and very well thought through. I love how colourful it was and how you can have profiles for each child.

• Did both you and your child find the app easy to use and navigate?

* Yes my youngest is 4 and can operate it fine. *

• What was your favourite feature on the app?

* That it gives you age appropriate videos and the ease of use without the kids keep having to come to me for help operating it or receiving error messages etc.*

• Would you recommend the app to your friends and/or family?

* Yes we really enjoyed using it in our house and I'm glad we have the App :)*

• Do you think anything could be improved on the app?

* Yes, a voice search function would be brilliant as neither of my kids can type yet to search*

Has anyone received their Amazon voucher yet? I promised it to my DD as she was the tester and she is asking me daily if it has arrived yet!
