NOW CLOSED

This is the feedback thread for the 10 Mumsnetters who tested the Purplebricks online estate agency service to try and sell their home.

Here’s what Purplebricks has to say: “Purplebricks has become one of the UK’s largest and most successful estate agents because we combine amazing Local Property Experts (LPEs) with world class technology that enables us to give a personalised, 24/7 service. The vast majority of our LPEs come from the high street and joined us because they recognise this is how estate agency should be – a proper estate agent, fixed and transparent fees, no commission and a clever portal that puts you in complete control of your sale. You’ll see everything, all your offers, viewings, feedback, the performance of your advert, at any time, from anywhere in the world, at the click of a button. And don’t forget to check out our 40,000 Trustpilot reviews, too. We’re really proud of them and it will give you a chance to see what other customers have said about us.”

Testers please answer the following questions:

First lot of questions: impressions on the valuation

  • How helpful was your Purplebricks valuation?
  • Was it made clear how Purplebricks works?
  • Were you confident with your Local Property Expert’s knowledge and expertise?
  • What most appealed to you about the Purplebricks service?

Second lot of questions: putting your property up for sale

  • How pleased were you with your advert in terms of property description, photos and speed it went live?
  • Did you feel in control through the process?
  • Did you feel supported by your Local Property Expert throughout the process?

Third lot of questions: finding a buyer

  • How have you found the Purplebricks tech platform?
  • Have you communicated directly with any potential buyers?
  • Was it easy to set your diary for viewings?
  • Was your Local Property Expert available for you?

Final lot of questions: overall impressions

  • Has your property sold?
  • What is your overall impression of Purplebricks?
  • Did your local expert really know the local market and have the experience you were looking for?
  • What do you think of technology for sellers?
  • Would you recommend selling with Purplebricks? If so, why?
  • Any feedback for those thinking of using Purplebricks?

Everyone who leaves the required feedback will be given a £50 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Purple Pricks are dire. Run. Run like the wind.

And if you agree something with them over their wanly wanky online platform BE AWARE THAT THEY CAN DISAPPEAR YOUR MESSAGES AT WILL.

And if any purple pricks customer services agent is reading, feel free to pm me and I'll let you look into trying to get my messages back. Coincidentally the messages that disappeared had me asking the agent about post, and about keeping an eye on my vacant property. Fucking roof leaked and even though they knew damage was occurring, and that I was miles away and had asked them to keep an eye on things, they kept quiet until a viewer gave me shitty feedback for the damp in the (newly refurbished) kitchen. I ended up with huge fines fo energy because the energy company were sending letters that I wasn't even aware weren't being passed on (assured by the local property expertthat they would be forwarded)

FUCKERS.

As I've had to pay top fucking dollar for them to watch my property get damaged, fail to sell it, and fuck up potential tenants (twice) my only revenge that I'm left with is to tell EVERYONE how shit they are. I told 3 call center staff this very morning. Hopefully word of mouth will put paid to this dreadful dreadful company.

Just an update on PB. We have now sold and moved so obviously we did find PB effective, I wouldn’t say the experience was outstanding, there were a few annoyances but our first-point Agent and the after sales were very good.

That said the Agents did know that they were taking part in the survey so I would say the experience was not objective.

The main problems were: Flaky website, Agent only available on their terms (i.e. out of school holidays), message board with buyer (resulting in buyer by-passing solicitors ensuing in panic), handover to viewing Agent (who was useless).

After looking for properties for over 5 years and putting in various offers, I have found many high-street agents corrupt; such as: offers not forwarded to seller, refusal to attend open viewing days, 1st to view then find someone (builder) has already viewed and offered, offer accepted then agent cancelling off our surveyor without our knowledge in favour of an offer from a personal friend are but a few examples.

The fact that the high street agent is a small body which cannot be reviewed (you will find any such reviews on google swiftly removed) is getting away with more shenanigans than Purple Bricks and because of the nature of PB being nationwide it is susceptible to criticism.

Turn the same spotlight onto the local agent and let's see the results.

I have to say, the service I have received since posting my final feedback is very different to the service I received before. Disappointed.

I kept getting emails asking me to leave trust pilot reviews.

I got in touch with them and told them I absolutely couldn't review them positively, and they didn't contact me again.

If there's a problem they don't want to know. They don't fix it, and they don't return calls

They're basically a fly by night, go bust in a few years, smash and grab company who will go bust when enough people cotton on to their patter.
